Precautions For New Workers And Leaders In Ministry:
- - When starting out in doing or leading ministry, from experience and observations it is blatantly obvious that some naive, or innocent, or unaware actions and teachings can get workers and leaders in substantial trouble that can easily result in being censured, restricted, sidelined, or even being outright terminated from doing ministry.
- - The following category lists are precautions and warning advice for workers and leaders in ministry, in order to preclude this trouble from coming upon them.
For MEN workers and leaders in ministry, completely avoid:
- - contact sports, hugs, touches, and any physical contact with girls, teenage girls, and women, other than hand shakes and high-five's;
- - being alone with one or more girls in a room that is secluded or that has the door shut or mostly shut; there needs to be a woman present in the room;
- - being alone with one or more girls in a vehicle, perhaps giving them a ride to or from an event; there needs to be a woman present in the vehicle.
For EVERY worker and leader in ministry, completely refrain from:
- - getting and/or staying angry;
- - speaking or ranting or yelling from anger;
- - being late, or unprepared, or unreliable, or un-teachable, or not cooperative, or noncompliant to the directives from the leader(s).
For EVERY worker and leader in ministry, be aware that:
- - strong negative reactions and the taking of revenge can erupt from other workers or leaders of ministry when they are being confronted for behaving in a clearly inappropriate or even sinful manner;
- - strong negative reactions and the launching of accusation attacks can erupt from some workers or leaders of ministry when they feel threatened or insecure because their performance in doing ministry looks mediocre, or poor, or incompetent in comparison to another worker or leader in their ministry whose performance in doing that same ministry is obviously excellent and highly regarded.
For EVERYONE who is teaching or preaching in ministry, be very cautious, selective, and wise
when:
- - confronting students or group members about their unpleasant, or inappropriate, or disruptive behaviors;
- - teaching from the Scriptures in describing about experiencing conditions in hell;
- - teaching from the Scriptures about demons;
- - teaching from the Scriptures about sexual topics;
- - teaching from the Scriptures about being wealthy.
For EVERYONE who is doing evangelism, be aware that:
- - In some church or ministry environments or programs, even though they are evangelical, the appropriate presenting of the gospel with an invitation to receive Christ for salvation can elicit an adverse reaction from the ruling leader, for any one of various unwarranted reasons.
- - In secular public settings, appropriately presenting the gospel can lead to occasionally encountering a person who immediately becomes outwardly hostile and perhaps even aggressive in opposition, even though there exists a satisfactory way for that person to move away from hearing the presentation.
For EVERYONE who is going to Bible college or seminary, be aware that:
- - the golden rule is 'give the professor what he/she wants' in doing assignments and etcetera, otherwise the professor will lower the grade in each instance when this is not done to the professor's satisfaction;
- - a Bible college degree of any level (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate) may or may not contribute to getting a paid ministry employment job; however, each degree from a reputable sound-doctrined Bible college does in fact substantially contribute to the depth of one's knowledge from which to do ministry.
